Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber and Composites (MCCFC) is composed of several companies, but at its core there are two. In April 2013, two California Companies, Grafil, a carbon fiber manufacturer in Sacramento and Newport Adhesives and Composites, a prepreg manufacturer in Irvine, were merged to create Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites (MRCFAC); then in 2017, we re-branded to MCCFC. Since our merge, we have made multiple acquisitions within the United States. In addition to these acquisitions, we have continued to improve and expand our current facility’s capabilities. We are a company with a dedicated focus on responsiveness, quality, and customer support, we are working hard to match the growing global and domestic demand for these advanced materials.
Responsible for ensuring the production team meets planned productivity goals and the smooth operation of all production lines. Assesses all production operations for adherence to safety, quality, and environmental requirements. Ensures that required materials, components, and skilled labor is in place to complete required operations. This entails a range of oversight of work including planning, scheduling, directing, and executing production activities for maximum performance. Is very hands-on, knowledgeable, and has interpersonal, communication skills in order to support and lead a large group of employees.
- Organizes and plans for the full operation of all Production lines on site across all shifts. Assesses the raw material, supplies, tools, consumables, and packaging materials required to start up and maintain optimal capacity. Coordinates with the Inventory department to maintain required levels of critical items on site. Assesses the required amount and type of skilled labor to operate all production lines at optimal capacity. Coordinates with the Production Supervisors to schedule overtime shifts and prioritize different production areas during a labor shortage or for resource intensive tasks.
- Assesses production operations for adherence to Safety, Quality, and Environmental requirements. Completes inspections, observations, audits, and other documentation. Works on corrective action (CAR) and management of change (MOC) projects as assigned by the Production Manager.
- Maintains effective working relationships with employees through open communication, visibility, and involvement to promote a positive working environment that maximizes safety, employee engagement, productivity, and throughput
- Responsible for development, performance appraisals, timecards, and time off requests for direct reports.
- Investigates production incidents including quality issues, line stoppages, and injuries/near misses. Implements immediate containment actions to mitigate the severity or extent of the incident. Gathers data, collects evidence, and interviews employees to determine facts of an incident.
- Recommends corrective actions to management for production operations. Responsible for coaching, developing, training, monitoring performance, giving corrective/disciplinary actions with employees.
- Gathers and interprets data from process records, ERP system, and production logs to report on productivity metrics and status as assigned by the Production Manager.
- In coordination with the Planning department, plans production outages and estimates production output and schedule for the upcoming 60-days. Investigates unplanned production stoppages and provides updated production estimates.
- Recruits, interviews, and conducts new hire orientation for production operators. Works with Human Resources Department to resolve the employee relation issues for the Production Department.
- Provides on-the-job training and instruction to new or learning production operators, leads, and supervisors to improve productivity and compliance performance. Provides classroom training as assigned by the Production Manager.
- Promotes self as a team member. Maintains strong relationships with other departments to facilitate smooth operations.
- Always exhibits exemplary conduct with other employees and contractors. Contributes to a healthy, positive, and safe environment.
- Other duties may be assigned, and be expected to perform to acceptable standards, any other relevant related duties as required by management.
- Ability to work overtime, first or second shift or schedule as dictated by production demands. Maintains a safe and clean work environment for all employees.
- Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Organizes and coordinates activities within the manufacturing operation to meet or exceed company and headquarters goals and objectives.
- Manages personnel issues that arise in a tactful manner and partner with appropriate management for support
Education: Associates Degree in a manufacturing related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience; or high school diploma (GED) with 5+ years Manufacturing and Supervising experience.
WORK EXPERIENCE: 5 years of related manufacturing experience, supervisory experience. Proficient with computers, strong self-starter and able to handle multiple tasks/projects at one time, good interpersonal and communication skills.
- The salary range for this position is $75,600 - $94,500. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
