Job Purpose

The Quality Manager is responsible for leading the site Quality program.  This person serves as the management representative for the site Quality Management System (QMS) including adherence to site and industry standards as well as customer requirements. Provides total quality leadership to internal stakeholders and customers.   The position will have direct management responsibilities for Quality Engineers and QC Analysts.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Support site Safety initiatives and ensure compliance with site ESH&S standards.
  • Manages the Quality and Customer interface to proactively assure requirements are understood and satisfied.
  • Manages the Chemical and Physical Testing labs including procedural approvals and fixed cost budget management.
  • Ensures quality resolution of internal and external issues.
  • Ensures effective root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and external quality concerns.
  • Responsible for site proactive quality improvements related to internal quality losses and customer quality claims, trend analyses of quality losses and product performance, and ensuring Quality team leads focused improvement initiatives for continual quality improvement.
  • Ensures knowledge and skill development of operating personnel, especially as it relates to defect identification, plans of control, product quality requirements, and customer applications.
  • Management of customer feedback process: Returned Goods approvals, Claim approvals, Corrective Action development and closure, Effectiveness Review, Feedback Closure
  • Facilitation of Site Quality Leadership Team (QLT) and Product Leadership Team (PLT)
  • Supports QMS Program Leader in overall management of QMS program including internal quality audits, maintaining of ISO 9001 certification, analyzing organizational quality metrics and coordinating management reviews to develop action plans.
  • Responsible for site, regional, and global reporting needs.
  • Ensuring completion of Customer surveys, facilitation of Customer audits.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by Director: Films and Polymer Manufacturing, Quality.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or similar technical degree
  • Excellent interaction and communication skills to interact proactively and positively with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to work and learn in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience in quality assurance and testing. 
  • Working knowledge of computer applications – Microsoft office, Quality analysis software. 
  • Knowledge of statistical process control and problem-solving techniques including root cause analysis.
  • Travel to customers and flexible schedule to support manufacturing line operation is necessary.
