Joint developments between customers and staff have led to an increased product offering from several hundred materials to the current listing of several thousand materials.
The Account Manager will manage and further position Gelest technical and Scientific products to develop new opportunities in technical and specialty chemical markets. This position will require close coordination with our Commercial Director along with Product Management and R&D. A large portion of this role will be dedicated towards managing mid-size and large customers to qualify Gelest materials in new applications along with providing sales follow up with those customers. Due to the nature of these opportunities, candidate would also need to establish a good working relationship with Gelest stakeholders and must have the ability to prioritize projects based on value and potential success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop strategic and invest to grow accounts.
- Support delivery of the 2025 Business Plan and take ownership of Business development and account activities.
- Customer ownership in cross-functional team activities to manage all aspects of the customer interface.
- Work closely with other regions (account managers) to leverage best practices and communicate effectively to Gelest Commercial network.
- Establish and develop relationships with not yet identified prospects and potential customers in both existing and new markets.
- Embrace and support Sales Force.com with developing a list of current and future pipeline targets.
- Provide market and new opportunity insight to Gelest stakeholders.

- Management of the complexity of the medical market with a solid understanding of the key requirements.
- Pipeline creation for 5 years plan.
- Interpersonal effectiveness (incl. organization skills) & good life balance to withstand pressure and focus on the essential prioritized activities.
Competencies & Behavior:
- Technical understanding of Chemical material market. How to fit solutions into new applications, and knowledge of how market trends are critical to sell Gelest Value.
- Teamwork and Business development skills are critical at the customer interface to uncover and develop key opportunities. These would include good interpersonal, communication, and discovery skills along with strong desire to accelerate business growth through hard work and strong initiative.
Relationships:
- Internal contacts: Commercial, Product Management, R&D and EH&S: internal contacts and relationships are needed to define and achieve account plans at Key accounts. Commercial Director (supervisor) and other functional leaders as needed: define goals, report progress, required support and guidelines towards goals.
- External contacts: Customer’s and OEM’s Engineering and Research & Development departments to support development of new applications and product introductions
Customer’s purchasing manager: Selling of Gelest value proposition and negotiation.
Customer’s contacts in all other critical functions (engineering, quality, process, etc.): Gelest Business Development is the primary focal point contact for the customer.
Freedom to Act/Level of Authority/Decision Making:
- For new develops or project of significance, will work closely with Commercial Director and Project Management where our Business Development will bring opportunities forward to be evaluated and pursued. For current or existing business Gelest is a strong supporter of empowerment to manage as the customer advocate.
Working Conditions:
- Handling / Exposure to Confidential Data: yes. Both exposure to confidential data (business strategy, pricing …), and to the market (customers, partners …)
- Mental/Physical Requirements Related to Essential Functions:
Ability to withstand pressure and stress internally and in front of customers.
Ability to travel domestically frequently within US (25-50%) - Work Environment – Remote/Home Office (close to major airport)
- Bachelor’s degree in; business, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field required.
- 5+ years’ experience in external /customer-facing roles in the following areas is preferred: Life Sciences, Industrial Specialties, CASE, Microelectronics consumables.

- The salary range for this position is $95,000 $140,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
