Job Purpose

The Cost Accountant determines and implements cost accounting procedures and methods and is responsible for the preparation and analysis of cost reports and costing audits.

The person in this position also examines and reviews unusual cost records and ensures cost data is allocated correctly.

Principal Accountabilities


  • Monitors and analyzes expenses
  • P&L and balance sheet reporting
  • Prepares monthly journal entries
  • Forecasting and budgeting, including preparation of annual budget
  • Cost calculations and variance monitoring
  • Maintains and reviews the GL
  • Reconciliation of capital accounts
  • Review rates of depreciation, labor, and overhead
  • Other duties as assigned
Knowledge / Skills / Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field


  • Two years of cost accounting experience
  • Experience in inventory analysis preferred


  • Knowledge of cost accounting and inventory analysis preferred


  • Proficiency with accounting software systems
  • Effective communication skills in verbal and written interactions
  • Advanced MS Excel skills including VLOOKUPS and pivot tables
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
