Job Purpose

Offer guidance and leadership in safety, health, and environmental activities. Collaborate with all staff members to foster a culture free from injuries. Ensure that Mitsubishi Chemical Group adheres to all environmental and safety regulatory standards, ensuring a secure workplace. Take charge of developing and implementing the Safety, Health, and Environment (EHS) program. Coordinate EHS activities at the Stockton site by conducting audits, managing projects, and providing training and coaching across all organizational levels. Provide assistance to other Mitsubishi Chemical Group EPP sites as needed.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Oversee the processes to ensure that all department employees receive the requisite safety training in accordance with OSHA and Mitsubishi Chemical Group standards.
  • Strictly enforce adherence to all plant safety rules across all areas at all times. Communicate any confrontations to the respective supervisors.
  • Conduct regular audits of the departments to identify safety and environmental issues, both physical and procedural. Prepare timely corrective actions to address any identified issues.
  • Take the lead in implementing and maintaining SafeStart initiatives.
  • Oversee the PBSA and JSA processes to ensure effective monitoring.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Safety Committees and teams.
  • Assume a leadership role in the implementation and maintenance of safety systems and programs, fostering a strong safety culture throughout the site.
  • Establish regular communication channels with the maintenance department, encompassing a thorough review of current equipment issues, backlog assessment of work orders, critical path planning for upcoming shutdowns, and addressing other pertinent issues as needed.
  • Uphold a high standard of 5S/Lean practices, recognizing their direct impact on safety and product quality.
  • Clearly articulate expectations to department employees regarding job performance, policy adherence, safety standards, attendance, and other relevant aspects.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • Three Years Manufacturing Process Experience
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills.
  • Maintains a commendable attendance record, setting an example for others.
  • Exhibits excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in making effective presentations.
  • Possesses a good mechanical aptitude and a basic understanding of industrial equipment.
  • Proficient in comprehending and applying quality engineering and technical principles and methods.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrates proven decision-making skills, including problem identification, analysis, and resolution.
  • Holds SHE-specific training, such as OSHA 30-hour and NSA Certificate in Safety Management.
Pay Transparency (complete highlighted sections)
  • The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $73,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
