Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber and Composites (MCCFC) is composed of several companies, but at its core there are two. In April 2013, two California Companies, Grafil, a carbon fiber manufacturer in Sacramento and Newport Adhesives and Composites, a prepreg manufacturer in Irvine, were merged to create Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites (MRCFAC); then in 2017, we re-branded to MCCFC. Since our merge, we have made multiple acquisitions within the United States. In addition to these acquisitions, we have continued to improve and expand our current facility’s capabilities. We are a company with a dedicated focus on responsiveness, quality, and customer support, we are working hard to match the growing global and domestic demand for these advanced materials.

 

Job Purpose

Manages a team and is responsible for the design and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment and plant. Responsible for operational excellence via efficient plant design, robust processing, process scale-ups. Ensures continuous improvement in process, cost, quality and production. Manages all engineering projects and resolves engineering problems. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and directs the work of others and has a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Define, plan, and execute capital equipment identification.
  • Direct support to ISO/AS9100 standards and QA best methods and practices (calibration, etc.).Document verification & validations per ISO/AS9100 for new equipment installations, significant process changes where KPP’s and KCC’s change etc.
  • Develop strategic plan with other member of the leadership team to meet long term growth and profit objectives of the company. Consensus builder.
  • Educate manage and motivate staff and others within contact in order to meet capital projects and preventative maintenance initiatives.
  • New product feasibility (manufacturing capability) studies and scale-ups. Understands DFM (Design for Manufacturability).
  • Plan resources (people, equipment and facility) to meet growth requirement based on corporate strategic plan.
  • Develop programs taking planned risks for improve raw material cost, service and quality/manufacturing cost.
  • Interact with Regulatory Agencies as required.
  • Support for, and interaction with, other Mitsubishi companies (tech transfer, etc.).
  • Initiative and lead PM initiatives and best practices for facilities improvements for equipment longevity, minimal down-time, quality and product yield improvements.
  • Responsible for managing, staff motivation and development, teambuilding. In the Maintenance and Process Engineering departments. Exhibits leadership and good decision-making skills.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe working environment, utilizing continuous JSA (Job Safety Analysis) and other risk-management strategies to minimize risk from injury, repetitive motion or poor ergonomics.
  • Exhibits exemplary conduct at all times in dealing with other MCCFC CMD employees including any outside contacts. Contributes to the establishment and attainment of a positive, safe, and team-oriented environment.
  • May be assigned, and be expected to perform to acceptable standards, any relevant related duties as required by top-management.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.

 

 

 

 

 

Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • A four-year college degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering is required. 
  • Recommended is 5 to 10 years-related experience and/or training in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Must have previous experience in MRP related Bills of Materials. Familiarity with materials (fibers, resins) a plus.
Pay Transparency (complete highlighted sections)
  • The salary range for this position is $111,014 - $127,000.16. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
