Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber and Composites (MCCFC) is composed of several companies, but at its core there are two. In April 2013, two California Companies, Grafil, a carbon fiber manufacturer in Sacramento and Newport Adhesives and Composites, a prepreg manufacturer in Irvine, were merged to create Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites (MRCFAC); then in 2017, we re-branded to MCCFC. Since our merge, we have made multiple acquisitions within the United States. In addition to these acquisitions, we have continued to improve and expand our current facility’s capabilities. Job Purpose

The EHS Technician will assist EHS Manager in performing various tasks associated with maintaining compliance and support the implementation and evaluation of programs designed to minimize risks to employees.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Is a champion for safety and demonstrates and coaches’ unsafe practices/behaviors.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment for all employees.
  • Performs daily walks around the plant to identify, evaluate, and communicated safety hazards/risks that an be identified. (i.e. chemical, electrical, mechanical, heat, cold, etc.).
  • Assists with EHS training and onboarding sessions for new employees as required.
  • Performs safety and environmental inspections, according to schedule and report findings.
  • Maintains EHS files, records and documentation.
  • Assists in conducting fire drills and inspects portable fire extinguisher to ensure that they are in working order.
  • Assists in development of technical documents including processes, procedures, programs and guidance.
  • Evaluates workplace environment, equipment, and practices to ensure employees follow company policies, safety standards, and government regulations.
  • Prepare and review specifications and orders for the purchase of safety equipment, ensuring that proper features are present and that items conform to health and safety standards.
  • Evaluate situations where the danger or potential harm exists, and report to safety committee how such situations should be handled.
  • Train employees about workplace safety, (requirements, best practices, PPE, etc.).
  • Support investigation teams.
  • Collect information for JSA as required per FMEA methodologies.
  • Evaluate EHS programs in the workplace.
  • Follows safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work overtime, first shift or schedule as dictated by business demands.
  • Always exhibit exemplary conduct with Mitsubishi Chemicals Carbon Fiber & Composite employees, and any outside contacts. Contribute to a healthy, positive, and safe environment.  Promote self as a team member.


Knowledge / Skills / Experience


Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Work Experience: 3+ years related experience and/or training in industrial safety, manufacturing safety environment, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Industry Knowledge: OSHA/CAL OSHA and other regulatory specifications, promoting safety awareness, and communicating safety messages/trainings to employees. Public speaking experience, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Team player and demonstrated capability to resolve individual and team conflicts.


Education: College degree from an accredited university/college.
