Job Purpose

The Mitsubishi Chemical Group – Performance Polymers Division (MCG-PPD) Key Account Manager will be responsible for growing sales and managing margins for all assigned accounts within the Mobility market, throughout North America.  This role will have access to the complete PPD portfolio of products to support their customers.  PPD products include a variety of Thermoplastic (TPO, TPV, TPS & TPE), and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC, PVC-Slush) based solutions.  The automotive applications that these products are used in include Air Bags, Interior Trim Parts, Seals, Energy Storage & Fluid Delivery and Wire & Cable.  The primary function of this role is to proactively lead commercial activities for assigned customers and to effectively communicate the value MCG-PPD provides to customer that will drive sales and margin growth. 

Principal Accountabilities
  • Account Management: Increase the sales (volume & revenue) with profitable new opportunities. Maximized depth and breadth of PPD products sold to customers.  Dynamic price management of current Sales to maintain and/or expand margins. 
  • Account Relationships: Actively engaging customers to develop upper management level customer contacts, strengthen relationships with key decision makers, advocates, and people at multiple levels of the customer’s organization. Identify and manage product or application development projects with customers.
  • New Business Development: Initiate contact with potential new Customers identified by Commercial Director, Regional Market Segment Managers.  Determine if MCG has a solution that we can provide or redirect customer to the appropriate MCG-Divisional contact. 
  • Market Segment Alignment: Work closely with each Market Segment Manager and provide market data, new application requirements, innovations, and analysis to help their Market & Pricing Strategy evolve accordingly.
  • Product Knowledge: Work with R&D and Technical Service to have an applying to analyzing level of knowledge for all PPD products and attend customer trials with Tech Service. Develop a general depth and breadth of PPD products and applications.
  • Customer Experience: Manage customer communication strategy and interactions with MCG-PPD, work to optimize their easy-of-doing-business with MCG. Manage customer survey feedback and response as needed.  Actively support efforts to improve and modify our processes that will optimize our systems and improve our ability to service our customers.
  • Customer & Market Intelligence: Capture and communicate internally all market intelligence from customers for future product requirements and/or potential product development needs.
  • Systems & Reporting: Track program activity and new opportunities with company software, submit customer visit reports. Work with the team to submit the annual budget, and report on monthly performance according to budget.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • Four-year degree in business, a technical discipline or related field.
  • 5+ years of account management experience, required 
  • Strong Automotive OEM & Tier 1 customer knowledge and contacts. Preferably within these core applications: Air Bags, Interior Trim Parts, Seals, Energy Storage & Fluid Delivery and Wire & Cable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Must be capable of working with all levels of PPD and Customer organizations.  Must be able to effectively communicate Customer needs, requirements, and specification to our R&D, Product Management and Product Development Teams.
  • Customer oriented and focused.
  • Experience giving business or technical presentations. Must be comfortable presenting in front of small and large groups (Internal and external).  Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Extrusion and Injection molding process knowledge, preferred.
  • The ability to interpret engineering part drawings, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Automotive OEM specifications, material performance requirements and the material approval process, preferred.
  • Experience Value Selling/Value Pricing and history of implementing them or similar principles and techniques is preferred.  Should have experience developing/implementing marketing strategies and tactics utilizing a variety of Sales techniques.
Pay Transparency

The salary range for this position is $97,040 - $145,560. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
