Located in Memphis, Tennessee, It is a fully integrated company for Sol-Rite™ formulated electrolytes, which are used for lithium-ion batteries. Special formulations are designed to meet customer needs and optimize the battery performance. The Sol-Rite™ electrolyte formulation mainly consists of organic solvents such as ethylene carbonate and lithium salt electrolytes such as LiPF6. Patented technologies and know-how are incorporated into the formulations to control the solid electrolyte interface on cathode and anode.

Job Purpose

The EHS Specialist is responsible for the environment, health, and safety (EHS) of the workplace, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Ensure all EHS legal requirements are met by maintaining and improving EHS management systems.
  • Conducts routine safety walk through safety audits and advise leadership on proper course of action relating to compliance with OSHA, corporate and site safety rules
  • Proactively identify problems areas and make recommendations for improvements
  • Track and trend root causes identified during investigations and self-audit findings as related to safety and ensure corrective measures address the root cause as well as verifying effectiveness of corrective measure
  • Monitor and report chemical inventory and arrange waste disposal
  • Assist with new product line hazard identification to gain approval from EPA.
  • Ensure TSCA compliance for all incoming raw materials and product shipments.
  • Conduct industrial hygiene monitoring, analysis, and reporting.
  • Participate with job safety analysis, near miss and incident reporting/investigations, root cause analyses, job task risk/assessment, and procedure review
  • Manage waste disposal and ensure proper documentation and reporting.
  • Develop, schedule and conduct safety orientation and annual training for new and current employees and resident contractors.
  • Coordinate regular emergency preparedness drills and readiness activities
  • Maintain required records and prepare and deliver presentations as necessary
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OSHA regulations and corporate standards
  • Support and comply with all requirements of the Environmental Management System (EMS).
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Safety/Environmental Science or related technical discipline (or) Equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a role relating to EHS.
  • Ability to work flexible work hours to accommodate the needs of the manufacturing floor
  • Effective communicator that can influence and drive change.
  • Intermediate analytical abilities and effective written and verbal communication
  • Excellent computer and communication skills – written and oral.
  • Must be able to effectively communication with people on all levels within the organization
