Mitsubishi Chemical Carbon Fiber and Composites (MCCFC) is composed of several companies, but at its core there are two. In April 2013, two California Companies, Grafil, a carbon fiber manufacturer in Sacramento and Newport Adhesives and Composites, a prepreg manufacturer in Irvine, were merged to create Mitsubishi Rayon Carbon Fiber and Composites (MRCFAC); then in 2017, we re-branded to MCCFC. Since our merge, we have made multiple acquisitions within the United States. In addition to these acquisitions, we have continued to improve and expand our current facility’s capabilities. Mitsubishi Chemical MCCFC- Carbon Fiber Division is seeking a, is seeking a Technical Service and Application Engineer to join a team committed to excellence, continuous improvement and driving sustainable business results. The primary role is to provide technical support through data and process development. You will support the R&D and sales department by researching and coming up with answers that solve real industry problems. You will support the new product launch, the whole division by acquiring and analyzing materials as well as developing manufacturing methods. You will have the responsibility of all technical documentation such as product/technical datasheets and promotional brochures outlining the benefits of the entire product line.  Come be a part of this dynamic team!!

What You Will Do...

  • Perform job duties and obtain training in accordance with AS9100 procedures.
  • Follow safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Draft/update/maintain application oriented product/technical data sheet, help to maintain and update the product information on the website.
  • Work with R&D chemists to develop/optimize cure conditions (cure methods and cure cycles) for the newly developed products.
  • Understand customer needs, research and collect the data on the existing products for new applications or customers’ new requirements.
  • Research and identify solutions on how to better cure/use MCG existing and new products for certain customer designated applications
  • Work with the team or independently to diagnose and trouble shoot customer technical issues, identify conclusions/solutions, provide prompt and accurate feedback to customers.
  • Follow up with clients to ensure their problems get resolved, maintain jovial relationships with clients. Accurately document and report the information from the customers and esternal sources, share with the related team members promptly.
  • Document technical knowledge in the form of notes, manuals and ppts.
  • When needed, help and participate in investigations of the final product quality issue and customer complains.
  • Refer to internal database or external resources to provide accurate technical solutions.
  • Maintain good relationships with intra and inter department colleagues.
  • Prepare accurate and timely internal reports, to keep the supervisor and the related team members updated. Properly escalate unresolved issues to appropriate internal team.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple tasks at one time.

What You Will Have...

 bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science or chemistry

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years industrial working experience is required. Technical service experience or similar role with good internal and customer communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure; motivation to learn new skills and technology;
  • Hands on and willing to work in the lab and field to conduct the bench work
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years composite/chemical laboratory experience in the following area: analytical testing, HPLC, FTIR, Rheometer, DSC, DMA, etc., composite layup and manufacturing, various method of curing operations, prepreg manufacturing and application, thermoset resins and composite parts design and manufacturing is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.
  • Good written and verbal communication.

Pay Transparency (complete highlighted sections)
  • The salary range for this position is $86,000 - $120,000. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
