Job Purpose

The Compliance Accountant provides internal controls and compliance support across the organization.


Principal Accountabilities
  • Lead the development, planning, and evaluation of internal controls across the organization.
  • Provide support in response to internal and external audits including gathering documentation, providing relevant policies and procedures, and providing analysis.
  • Perform and document periodic reviews and testing of internal controls.
  • Work with the various department directors on completion of the Controls Self-Assessment survey, make recommendations for improvements with follow up to ensure continuous improvement in all areas.
  • Provide feedback and follow up on audit testing exceptions and/or potential controls weaknesses to management.
  • Manage tax and regulatory compliance – sales/use tax, property tax, income tax, and government surveys.
  • Assist with physical inventory observations, reconciliations, and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Lead process improvements projects to improve financial accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare monthly cost center reporting.
  • Assist with monthly consolidated financial reporting.
  • Assist with other month-end close procedures as needed.
  • Maintain a helpful and friendly working relationship with fellow employees.
  • Comply with all applicable customer and ISO/TS16949 requirements.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA is a plus
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of compliance and controls experience. 3-5 years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Strong technology skills: Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications.  Experience working within an ERP system with SAP experience preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Accounting licensure (CPA/CIA/CMA or similar professional license).
  • Strong organizational, verbal, written, and critical thinking skills.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to self-manage deadlines.
