Job Purpose

The Process-Project Engineer will support all manufacturing and engineering processes.  Process improvement leader with a strong focus on safety, quality, productivity, utilization of equipment and plant efficiencies.  Will provide continuous improvement initiatives in production process as well as equipment.  Process-Project Engineer will work closely with Operations, R&D and Sales to achieve excellence in process standardization and automation for facilities manufacturing.  Will participate or lead Capital Engineering or other projects from design stage to completion.


Principal Accountabilities
  • Be an active safety ambassador and provide guidance and leadership on the floor to promote a safe work environment.
  • Participate in 6S activities throughout the facility.
  • Leads Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) and assists training employees on new machine set up and tolerances, operation, and proper safety.
  • Reviews, updates, and analyzes process data, i.e., OEE.
  • Member of Engineering project teams, developmental or capital.
  • Member of a cross-functional team (Continuous Improvement Team - CIT) to perform root cause analysis on any production/quality concerns and develop measures for corrective and preventative actions. Track and report result of continuous improvement efforts.
  • Work with support plant functions (operations, scheduling, inventory control, R&D, shipping and receiving) to develop procedures that support a robust manufacturing process.
  • Member of a cross-functional team (Process Improvement Team - PIT) for process improvements through safety, quality, equipment, and productivity.
  • Develop and prepare monthly reports.
  • Writing technical reports and perform presentations to upper management when needed.
  • Provide twin screw and barrel design for new and existing products.
  • Partner with Plant Managers, Engineering Manager, Quality and R&D to determine continuous improvement scope, budget, schedule, and resources.
  • Lead assigned capital projects and assist in managing projects through completion.
  • Will work closely with R&D for development applications for equipment recommendations.
  • Identify process bottlenecks and potential solutions to reduce waste or increase throughput for core processes.
  • Maintain capital project record system.
  • Leverage analytical tools to link improvement activities to performance measures.
  • Participate in troubleshooting efforts on challenging manufacturing / technical issues with the process or facility.

  • Provide technical and or manufacturing support to all MPA sites.
  • Travel as required to support company requirements.
  • Comply with and report any violations of the Corporate Governance System (CGS).
  • Follow all aspects of the Quality Management System.
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • Four-year degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or technical-related equivalent applicable work experience (add 6 years to the minimum years of experience).
  • Solid understanding of statistical data and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Plastics compounding experience a plus.

  • Capable of working in a team based technical environment, as well as, the ability to work individually with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problem.
  • Experience in the automotive industry and plastic compounding industry preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft word, Excel and PowerPoint
