Job Purpose

Mitsubishi Chemical Group is seeking a seasoned expert in Program Management with experience in
composites in the automotive and mobility sector. The Program Manager (PM) will lead medium and large
programs and owns the value chain and customer relationships. The PM will champion strategic and
operational goals and lead project teams for program execution. The PM will coordinate and prepare budgets,
proposals, and business plans. The PM will also create and execute contracts and serve as the primary point of
contact for daily operations and directly responsible for managing partner networks within the industry.

  • The individual will be key in expanding the Applications Engineering & Development organization and building
    a competence in advanced composites and manufacturing. This will include hiring personnel, developing
    facility and equipment plans and overseeing installation and commissioning.

Principal Accountabilities


  • Develops & implements product strategies and technical roadmaps for specific programs,
    products and engineering systems
  • Highly proficient understanding of program schedules, risk areas, slack time, and critical path
  •  Knowledgeable in Program‐based Financial Management; to include development of
    comprehensive program estimates and execution plans
  • Forecasts product/project completion, costing and resources
  • Leads team to identify, quantify and qualify risks and opportunities; leads risk mitigation and
    opportunity capture activities
  •  Develops, maintains and prepares corrective actions and recovery schedules for internal
    leadership and customers
  •  Demonstrates continuous improvement initiatives to optimize efficiency and quality
  •  Balances product/project plans, risks, and opportunities with executable strategies to meet
    technical requirements and budgets
  •  Ability to evaluate quality of work product to ensure satisfaction of customer requirements

 Execution:

  • Ability to use proposal and strategies to implement executable, cohesive program plans
  • Engages various functional organizations to ensure alignment with program objectives
  • Participates in contract negotiation and manages contractual changes, including preparation
    of proposals, business plans, Statements of Work, budgets, specifications and financial
    conditions to ensure legal compliance
  • Oversees the creation of a new Composite Engineering Group, which includes developing job
    descriptions and hiring new personnel, facilities, prototype manufacturing equipment and
    testing capabilities
  • Works with MCG personnel to execute the operational facilities, equipment installation and
    commissioning schedules
  • Works with the engineering and operations team to ensure appropriate alignment of
    resources to attain product/project goals
  • Responsible for the profit and loss of products/projects
  • Works with R&D to develop and present new technology proposals and roadmaps
  • Works with the Commercial and Business Development teams to identify new revenue
    opportunities and portfolio extensions


  • Prepares periodic progress and cost reports and/or other program documentation for
  • Leads and liaisons meetings between MCG engineering, customers and supply chain
  • Serve as a global liaison across external suppliers, research partners, and internal company
Knowledge / Skills / Experience
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Materials Science, Manufacturing
    Engineering) or other related engineering discipline
  • 5 or more years in Program Management and experience leading engineering teams
  • Extensive knowledge of multiple product lines and the ability to effectively manage the entire range
    of Applied Composites clients including large projects and programs in excess of 10 million dollars
  • Experience with developing Manufacturing or Production Plans
  • Substantial knowledge of composite materials, processing and applications
  • Experience in transitioning development programs to commercial production
  • Experience within a product development environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Critical thinking and strong analytical and problem‐solving skills
  • Independent time management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple initiatives and projects
  • Self‐motivated with problem solving and decision‐making skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to develop clear and detailed plans


  • Experience with solid modeling in CAD such as Solidworks, Dassault CATIA, Siemens NX
  • Proficient with statistical analysis and use of statistical tools such as Design for Six Sigma
  • Experience with materials testing and characterization methods
  • Experience in collaborating with academic institutions, government laboratories, and industrial
    research consortiums
  • Exposure to the automotive/mobility industry and certification protocols such as the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Knowledge of defect and failure analysis methods
  • Ability to shape culture and positively impact morale, motivation, and team engagement
