The Company

Mitsubishi Chemical Methacrylates has a strong heritage of delivering excellence in the design, development and manufacture of some of the world’s best known acrylic products.  With a heritage from DuPont and ICI, Mitsubishi Chemical Methacrylates has been a leader in the application and development of acrylic technologies.  The acquisition of Mitsubishi Chemical Methacrylates by Mitsubishi Rayon in 2009 further strengthened this position and established the combined companies as the global market leader in the manufacture and sales of acrylic monomers.  Further integration of the Mitsubishi companies (Mitsubishi Rayon, Mitsubishi Plastics, and Mitsubishi Chemical) in 2017 created the new Mitsubishi Chemical Company (MCC) and firmly established the acrylic monomer business domain as the continued global leader in acrylic monomer, now backed by the strength of the 5th largest chemical company in the world.  Mitsubishi Chemical is the only producer that utilizes all three technical routes to acrylic monomer and the only producer utilizing C2 technology as a commercial option for MMA production.  As a result, Mitsubishi Chemical is not only the largest but also the most technically advantaged acrylic monomer producer in the world.

Mitsubishi Chemical Methacrylates operates as the Americas Division of Mitsubishi Chemicals’ acrylic monomer business, one of ten business domains crossing a diverse portfolio of businesses within the company.  As the global leader, we manufacture and supply acrylic monomers that serve a broad base of downstream applications ranging from architectural and automotive coatings, to adhesives, to various acrylic sheet applications and specialty moldings.  Our products have many applications and are found in many popular name brands of paints, adhesives, bath and spa products, and beyond.

Mitsubishi Chemical Group is seeking a Senior Manager, Human Resources to join a team committed to excellence, continuous improvement and driving sustainable business results. The Senior Manager, Human Resources role contributes to company performance by providing tactical and strategic consulting on people and organization development strategies in support of the business objectives. This role is critical in executing our people initiatives, providing internal customer support, and driving HR functional excellence. Performs HR related duties at the professional level while supporting more than one functional group. The Senior Manager, HR responsibilities in the following functional areas: workforce planning, benefits administration, payroll, employee relations consultation; policy interpretation and application, performance management; and talent management consultation. This role will partner with the Talent Management COE in the areas of Talent Acquisition, Employee Development, and Succession Management as well as serve as the company spokesperson in labor contract negotiations as needed in Geismar, LA.  Come be a part of this dynamic team!!

What You Will Do...

  • Ensure the effective delivery human resource services to the Methacrylates/PC/Battery Materials Divisions plant sites as well as the Corporate Headquarters around workforce planning, compensation, benefits, payroll, performance management, employee relations and talent management consultation.
  • Lead the new plant start up in all HR functional including development of policies and procedures, talent acquisition by partnering with the TA team, workforce planning and global mobility.
  • Manage the Human Resources (HR) team to effectively partner with the leadership team to align HR strategy to business strategy and educate managers and employees on company policies, procedures, and benefit plans and ensures their consistent application.
  • Identify and implement strategic improvements in HR effectiveness, HR processes, and employee engagement to build and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Leads the team to manage and resolve employee relations issues as well as conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations. Manage the employee discipline and termination processes to ensure all are administered in a manner which is fair, ethical and satisfies applicable laws as well as site and corporate policy.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with Regional HR peers to develop solutions, programs, and policies based upon business needs to provide proactive insights for HR solutions.
  • Ensure the site HR teams effectively consult with leaders to provide day-to-day HR guidance, coaching to leadership on a variety of actions to including employee relations issues, policy interpretation and application, and talent management and development (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions) and identify new HR strategies as needed
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required
  • Partner with the Regional Talent Acquisition team to ensure the timely hiring of qualified job applicants for all open positions; drives the site HR teams to collaborate with department managers to understand skills and competencies required for the openings

 

What You Will Have...

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field required
  • 7+ years of experience in Human Resources positions
  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources management. Previous experience in manufacturing or chemical manufacturing is preferred. Experience in new plant start-ups is a plus.
  • Broad HR knowledge across all HR functions/processes as well as HR expertise and experience in people management, employment law, employee relations, succession planning, talent management, coaching, and conflict resolution
  • Professional Certification (SPHR or PHR) highly desirable but not required.
  • The ability to communicate effectively to all levels of employees and present oneself as an active team player throughout the organization
  • Must possess strong interpersonal and relationship management skills
